Tom Pelphrey was one of the only people on the planet who had never heard of The Big Bang Theory (the TV programme, not the scientific theory), and he is now dating its star.
When Tom started dating Kaley Cuoco, he had to get smacked very quickly, especially because his family referred to her as “Penny.”
If you’re as clueless as Tom, 41, about The Big Bang Theory, Penny is Kaley’s character name.
Penny, a waitress, lives with scientists Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (John Galecki) in the CBS sitcom. Although they appear to have nothing in common at first, they gradually build a great relationship, with Penny and Leonard even marrying!
When asked if he’d watched the show, which aired from 2007 until 2019, he said, “Never.”
Tom had best clear his calendar since he has 12 series to catch up on!
‘Matter of fact, when I first brought Kaley to New Jersey to meet my family and friends, my mom’s partner—who apparently was a Big Bang Theory fan—was there, and he kept calling her Penny. I had no clue what was going on,’ he told W Magazine.
‘I was completely unaware. I’ve watched a few episodes with her since, and, obviously, she’s fantastic,’ he sweetly said.
In fact, Ozark actor Tom hadn’t seen Kaley, 37, in anything before – alright, he’ll have to see 8 Simple Rules right now, if not sooner.
Giving justification for his reasoning he said: ‘Look, I live in a cave. Before I met Kaley, I was living in upstate New York, on a dirt road, in the middle of the woods, without much Wi-Fi. She’s brought me into modern times.’
Fortunately, their relationship has not suffered as a result of their lack of knowledge about Kaley’s past. Matilda, the couple’s first child, was born in March after they had been dating for almost a year.
Kaley recently reported that she developed carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) while carrying Matilda.
