Kate Ferdinand, who is expecting a child with Rio Ferdinand in just a few weeks, has announced that her infant is in breech position.
The reality actress, 31, and her footballer husband, 44, revealed their second child together earlier this year.
The couple, who already have a two-year-old boy Cree, who will be due in December 2020, had a loss in July, and Kate has since been vocal about the difficulties she has encountered during this pregnancy.
Kate gave an update on her pregnancy during an appearance on Loose Women, revealing that her baby girl is in breech position.
Babies usually shift into the head-down position by the time they are born, but breech means bottom or feet first.
Only 3-4% of newborns remain breech at the conclusion of pregnancy, with many naturally flipping into a head-first posture.
Kate explained: ‘Can I tell the truth, I’m feeling a bit tired.
‘And the baby is breech, so she’s digging in the ribs and kicks on the bladder.
‘But apart from that, I’m okay.’
Kate is also the stepmother to Rio’s three children, Tate, 13, Lorenz, 15, and Tia, 11, whom he shares with his late wife, Rebecca Ellison, who died in 2015.
She previously expressed Tia’s delight at having a sibling, joking that they are now ‘outnumbered’ in the family.
‘Hopefully there’s a bit more female energy in the house,’ she added.
Kate has previously stated that she hopes her second birth would be ‘easier,’ considering how her first one ‘went awry,’ as she battled mentally when Cree came, revealing she ‘cried every single day for five weeks’ and faced severe anxiety.
Speaking to Zoe Blaskey on the Motherkind podcast, Kate said: ‘I’m having a C-section because I had to have an emergency one last time, and that’s ok.
‘Last time, I had an emergency C-section, and I had all the way pushing and then it went wrong.
‘I’ve kind of had both births [already]… I think I know what I’m doing and I’m hopeful that it might be easier.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1.
