Katherine Ryan‘s performance on Late Night Lycett could not have gone any better when the barge she was on started to float down the waterway. Yes, indeed.
The comic, 39, was one of the famous guests on the Channel 4 show’s premiere broadcast, alongside Dame Joanna Lumley, 76, Alan Carr, 46, and Alison Hammond, 48.
Dame Joanna, Alan, and Alison were able to play a range of games live in the Birmingham studio, but Katherine was trapped on a yacht that became unmoored during the show.
Joe received word of Katherine’s bad situation via his earpiece near the conclusion of the show, spurring him to notify viewers at home.
‘Katherine is officially with us… just getting further and further…’ he said, distracted by the odd glitch. Tonight there is a strong stream.’
The camera then pans to Katherine, who is terrified of where the boat will go.
The flustered mum-of-three cried out: ‘Where does this river even go?’
Joe ended the show by issuing an apology to Katherine, adding: ‘Sorry to Katherine Ryan we couldn’t get her into the studio.’
Viewers were in stitches over the mishap, with one writing: ‘Cancel the awards, Katherine Ryan unexpectedly floating away in a boat from the moor in Brum wearing a fabulous pink feather outfit wins best comedy TV moment of the year.’
Echoing a similar another said: ‘No way can it be an accident that Katherine Ryan is stranded on a barge floating down the canals this show is unmitigated chaos!’
Again did anyone have this on their 2023 bingo sheet? Us neither…
