Kylie Minogue went above and above to ensure her participation in this year’s Red Nose Day spectacular Ghosts skit.
In the Comic Relief special, the I Should Be So Lucky singer visited Button House while Alison and Mike planned a music festival in the estate’s grounds.
She can also see ghosts, it turns out, in a fantastic twist, but that’s not the finest part about the sketch.
Comic Relief executive Peter Davey wrote on LinkedIn: ‘Less well know is that it was planned for last year but Kylie had to pull out last minute when she contracted Covid. It was a devastating blow for us at the time but both Kylie and her management INSISTED she would do it this year.
‘However as we all know talk is pretty cheap in TV and we feared the worst when – in the intervening year – Kylie moved her main base from Europe to Australia. So we weren’t hugely optimistic when we went back in with the request at the start of this year.’
But, the BBC need not have fretted, as the former Neighbours star performed well.
Peter continued: ‘But Team Kylie were INSISTENT on honouring her word. Not only did she fly in on the Thursday and endure a full 12 hour filming day (6am start) on the Sat, she complied with every photograph, social media request and message we asked with huge grace, charm and patience.
‘And then every cast/crew selfie – of which there were loads as everyone fell a little bit in love with her…..
‘Kylie did this because: 1. She is a massive and genuine fan of Ghosts.

‘2. She has always been a hugely committed supporter of Comic Relief over the years.
‘3. But possibly most relevant to me – Kylie honours her word. She said she was going to do it 12 months ago and then went out of her way to deliver for all of us.’

He added: ‘We are all hugely grateful to everyone at Team Kylie and want to applaud her/their integrity and collaboration.’
Greg Scott, a broadcaster, posted Peter’s tweet on Twitter, and fans were thrilled with how Kylie treated herself behind the scenes.
‘Least surprising news ever – @kylieminogue is fabulous,’ replied one fan, while a second viewer added: ‘This is why we love @kylieminogue’.
Another person wrote: ‘Just the Queen being our Queen and keeping her word….we ❤️ her!!’
And a fourth tweeted: ‘I thought @kylieminogue appearing on Ghosts for Comic Relief was fantastic. Then I read this and now think she is even more lovely…’
Ghosts is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
