After Sunday’s contentious season four reunion, Love Is Blind host Vanessa Lachey made a peace proposal to Paul Peden.
After the show eventually aired, many were underwhelmed, with many criticising the presenter’s line of inquiry on social media, particularly in regards to the couples having children.
Paul, 29, was one of many who expressed disappointment after the episode, saying that at times her remarks regarding the breakdown of his relationship with Micah Lussier felt like a “interrogation.”
Taking to Instagram, he shared a picture of a bouquet of flowers and a note, with the message: ‘Thanks for acknowledging the accidental misleading @vanessalachey.’
He also told People Magazine that the Netflix production team also sent over a floral display, which was separate from Vanessa’s gift.
‘They did send me flowers but that was separate from the apology,’ he said. ‘[Vanessa] sent me a message acknowledging that she “may have been misled about how you wanted to defend yourself.”
‘I think it was supposed to be a sort of apology for the clear bias. At least that’s the way I took it.’
Many people criticised Vanessa for her work on the reunion show, and some social media users claimed that she failed to hold some of the cast members accountable for their actions there.
Paul and others agreed that she had a strange tone during the programme.
‘In all, it’s alright. I think that no matter what you say, no matter what the conversation is, your character comes through in what you say,’ the environmental scientist told the outlet after the reunion took place. ‘I thought that I detected a little bit of personal bias there. I’m not sure what it was.
‘And I guess she’s within her right to drill on personal bias, but she shouldn’t present as being an objective neutral party if that’s the case.
‘But I think it’s fair to continue follow up questions. But if we’re going to go that route, we need to be able to have a full-length conversation.’
The question Vanessa asked the participants about their “timelines” for having a “Love Is Blind baby” drew criticism. She placed married couples Tiffany Pennywell and Brett Brown, Zack Goytowski and Bliss Poureetzadi, and Chelsea Gryphon and Kwame Appiah on the spot.
She hasn’t yet made a public statement on the reunion concerns and the fan response.
