Anna-May is a Love Island star. Robey is looking forward to her time in the villa, but she’s already decided on one thing she won’t be doing.
On Monday, a brand new set of singletons will make their ITV2 debuts in the hope of finding love – or, at the very least, a hot romance under the South African sun – as they take part in the new series of Winter Love Island.
This year’s cast includes Anna-May, who is taking a vacation from her job as a payroll administrator in Swansea to sift through possible suitors.
We talked with the 20-year-old ahead of the show’s premiere date, and she disclosed the warning her father gave her before the show began.
When asked if there was anything she wouldn’t do on TV because she knew her family would be watching, Anna-May responded: ‘So I definitely wouldn’t have sex on TV,’ adding: ‘I think it’s very important that you are careful about what you say about people on the outside world, back at home.’
She continued: ‘Obviously, with the sex, my parents will be watching, I’m sure my family will be supporting me. My grandparents will probably watch as well, I think that’s really something they do not want to see, as well as my dad.

‘My dad’s already warned me about that. We’ll wait until after Love Island. Hopefully if I find somebody nice, but it won’t be happening in the villa.
While other members of the Love Island cast were picked after submitting applications, Anna-May was approached directly on Instagram by the casting crew, who asked if she would be interested in discussing the chance over the phone.
‘Going on Love Island is something that I’ve thought of before. And so when I was given the chance to have a phone call, I thought I may as well go for it. What have I got to lose?’ she said.

‘Now I’m here in sunny South Africa. So I don’t know how I got here, but it’s really exciting.’
While Love Island had crossed her mind, she clarified that she doesn’t think ‘it’s something I would have actually gone and applied for’.
‘People in my work have always said, “You’d be amazing on Love Island, you should apply,” or friends back home. That’s why I thought when I was given the opportunity, I’ll just go for it, see what it is. I have nothing to lose.’
Anna-May speculated that her ‘bubbly personality’ may have been one of the reasons why her friends and coworkers thought she’d be a good fit for the show, as well as the fact that she hasn’t had ‘much luck with dating or relationships’.
‘I’m quite an out there person, I’m very friendly and I think they just seem to think that I’d be a good part of the show,’ she shared.
Love Island launches on Monday January 16 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
