Fans of Love Island were overjoyed to see Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan proclaimed series 9 winners – but there’s one person who surely isn’t.
Kai and Sanam competed in the Winter Love Island 2023 final alongside Ron Hall and Lana Jenkins, Shaq Muhammad and Tanya Manhenga, and Tom Clare and Samie Elishi for the £50,000 prize.
But only one pair could win the title, so Kai and Sanam made history by becoming the first Casa Amor bombshell to win.
Fans of the ITV2 dating programme may recall that Kai and Sanam were not always in a relationship, as he was previously matched with Olivia Hawkins… And what a ride it was, wasn’t it?
There’s no disputing that the two had a rocky relationship that ended when they both opted to recouple following Casa.
Fans dubbed Olivia the series’ “villain” since she battled with nearly everyone during her tenure.
Tom pimped her and she battled with Jessie Wynter and Zara Lackenby-Brown before marrying Maxwell Samuda and becoming ‘official,’ leaving the series together.
But it was her arguments with PE teacher Kai that had everyone talking, as viewers at home accused her of ‘toxic’ behaviour, prompting complaints to Ofcom.
As a result, it’s no wonder that Kai and Sanam shippers are celebrating their victory, with some Twitter users joking that Olivia will be ‘fuming’.
‘I can’t help but be so happy to think of how Olivia is feeling right now’, one fan laughed.
‘Olivia is deffo at home crying blood seeing Kai win and we love to see it’, penned another.
‘The public will make sure Olivia remembers Kai’s name now’, one viewer wrote in reference to Olivia previously forgetting Kai’s name after entering Casa Amor and meeting the new boys.
‘Olivia is seething’, another viewer tweeted.
One echoed: ‘Would love to see Olivia’s face’.
Several people quipped that Kai deserved to win since he’refused’ to apologise to Olivia early in the game, which won him a lot of respect for standing his ground.
The incident demonstrated Kai’s indifference, as he and Olivia failed to’squash the quarrel’ they had created, and Kai simply walked away, with viewers applauding his ‘unbothered’ demeanour.
From that moment on, it seemed Kai was the nation’s winner.
Love Island is available to stream on ITVX.
