Love Island‘s winter series reportedly got off with a bang after the South Africa villa was pounded by heavy winds.
The annual dating series is back, and this season promises the usual rollercoaster of drama and surprises, with the general public getting to choose the first bombshell to enter the villa before the series even begins.
Maya Jama will take over for Laura Whitmore and has been releasing behind-the-scenes footage on her Instagram.
The 28-year-old takes a helicopter to the luxury South African villa, which boasts an Olympic swimming pool and a rugby pitch, according to teasers ahead of tonight’s planned premiere.
However, the rain disrupted her dramatic entry, making it a difficult trip.
According to an insider, ‘every department was affected – sound, lighting, cameras, and wardrobe.’

‘None of the Islanders expected to be shivering around the fire pit either, but it came into its own,’ the source added to The Sun.
Last week, the first ten islanders due to enter the villa were revealed, including TikTok farmer Will Young, airport security worker Shaq Muhammad, and Owen Warner’s ex-girlfriend Lana Jenkins.
For the first time, the cast will have to entirely shut their social media accounts this year in order to safeguard themselves and their loved ones.
Previously, islanders were unable to access their accounts, but their family and friends ran them, engaging viewers and urging fans to vote for their favourites.
Explaining the move, ITV stated they wanted accounts to be ‘dormant’ and nothing should be uploaded on people’s behalf so they could avoid ‘the adverse effects of social media’.
