Gemma Owen could be returning to TV soon after her Love Island stint, as the reality star revealed she’s ‘in talks’ to land her very own TV show.
It recently emerged that Gemma, 19, had broken up with her boyfriend Luca Bish, 23, who she’d met on the ITV programme this summer.
The couple called it quits three months after leaving the villa, having finished the competition as runners-up behind Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, 28, and Davide Sanclimenti, 27.
While Gemma shared that it’s been ‘challenging’ for her in the aftermath of her break-up with Luca, she could have an exciting project on the horizon.
‘We’re in talks of potentially having my own TV show which would be really exciting,’ she told Goss.ie at the Christmas Party for clothing retailer PrettyLittleThing in Dublin.
‘Nothing is confirmed yet, but I’d definitely like to be back on TV soon,’ she added.
Gemma, who’s the daughter of former England football star Michael Owen, is an accomplished international dressage rider.
When she appeared on Love Island, viewers were waiting with bated breath to see when she was going to reveal who her famous dad was.
However, it later was revealed that the revelation has taken place off-screen.
Speaking about her separation from Luca, who she’d recently gone official with, Gemma said this week: ‘These last few weeks, as going through any break up, it’s not nice. It’s not a nice time.’
She added: ‘Having to deal with the press and other people’s opinions, and people thinking that they know what’s going on when they don’t, that’s been challenging. But overall, I’m doing ok. I’m getting through it and keeping busy.’
Gemma also praised the other women who took part on her season of Love Island for how supportive they’d been of her.
‘The girls have been lovely,’ she said.
‘Every single one of them has sent me a message, being there, telling me if I never need a call they’ll be there. So that’s really lovely and makes it a bit easier.’
When Gemma shared on social media that she and Luca had gone separate ways, she wrote in a statement: ‘It wasn’t an easy decision but this ultimately is what is best for us both right now.’
Luca added in his own statement: ‘I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways.
‘We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure.
‘I can’t thank everyone enough for their support for us as a couple during and after Love Island.
‘We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her.’
Love Island is available to watch on ITV Hub.
