Haris Namani, a candidate on Love Island 2023, is rumoured to be facing an assault charge after a video of him in a street brawl in Doncaster last year went viral online.
The Sun received a video of the 21-year-old brawling with another man following a night out, in which the two men can be seen trading blows before the reality star lands a solid strike to the other man’s chest.
After the fight, Namani was seen on camera yelling and the other man had fallen to the ground.
The TV salesperson and boxer issued a statement following his eviction from the resort.
In his farewell interview, he remarked, “I’m heartbroken that this footage has been viewed, it’s not a representation of my character.”
‘I’m not someone that goes looking for fights and I didn’t want to be in that situation. This was a heat of the moment thing.’
by saying, “The video doesn’t show all that transpired,” adding that he and the other man have since made amends. Afterward, we reconnected and discussed the situation calmly. It’s all OK now that we’ve shaken hands.
‘It’s not something that would happen again.’
The Sun reports that the police will question Namani about the attack shown in the video.
“It’s at an early stage, but police are reviewing all relevant information,” a source told the magazine. A brutal assault like that has justifiedly raised some serious concerns.
Soon after the video went viral, Namani was eliminated from Love Island as part of the episode’s script.
He and Anna-May Robey were sent home, which devastated Olivia Hawkins since she had become close to Namani and had developed feelings for him romantically.
Newbies Ellie Spence and Spencer Wilks made headlines on Friday night’s programme by making their relationship preferences known, with Spence choosing Ron Hall and Wilks opting with Hawkins.
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
