Maya Jama has expressed her ‘overwhelming’ feelings about her debut as the new Love Island host, while also releasing some behind-the-scenes photos from the first episode.
Winter Love Island 2023 kicked off last night’s episode with the first coupling up ceremony of the competition.
Maya, 28, took over as presenter from Laura Whitmore, and she showed off her finest slow-mo walk when she entered the villa in South Africa for the first time, greeting islanders such as Ron Hall, Tanyel Revan, Kai Fagan, and Lana Jenkins.
Following the launch, the TV personality thanked her fans on Instagram for their overwhelming support.
She captioned numerous photos of herself in her already-iconic black cut-out dress, ‘Overwhelmed from last night, thankyou so much for your lovely thoughts..’
The DJ then teased the second episode, saying, ‘Who’s ready for tonight’s episode??’

A number of Maya’s celebrity friends voiced showered the star with adoration, including Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, who commented: ‘Actual vision,’ alongside a fire emoji.
Chicken Shop interviewer Amelia Dimoldenberg wrote: ‘You were amazing, a natural! The main reason I’m watching 😂.’
Samira Mighty, who competed on Love Island in 2018, remarked: ‘Unbelievable🔥,’ while reality star Vicky Pattison added: ‘Stunning mate 😍.’
She-Hulk star Jameela Jamil told Maya that she ‘Broke the internet. Broke the world,’ while several of Maya’s fans expressed their belief that the boys in the villa likely want to couple up with her.

Following the arrival of bombshell Tom Clare, tonight’s episode of Love Island is expected to be filled with turmoil.
The footballer, who was allowed to participate in the show by his squad, joined the villa after the first five pairs had been created.
As a result, he’ll have to get to know the girls before picking who he wants to date, with his final decision potentially leaving one of the other boys vulnerable.
Ellie Spence, who will have the opportunity to get to know the males around the firepit, will be entering the villa as yet another surprise.
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
