One of the creators of the smash Netflix mystery series Lupin has hinted at ‘severe’ peril for its protagonist thief, and we’re interested.
The robbery thriller starring Omar Sy [Assane Diop] has been riding high in the top ten Netflix rankings throughout the world, hitting at number one in several countries like France, Brazil, Spain, and Italy.
Writer and co-creator George Kay discussed the third episode of Idris Elba’s revolutionary new thriller series Hijack at the global premiere.
‘It comes on October 5th which is super exciting,’ he told us.
‘Omar is wonderful in it and it’s great to get that character back.’
He continued: ‘What I will say is that off the back of season two, he’s [Assane] now known as a criminal. He’s spent a lot of time living and robbing, stealing around Paris without anyone knowing who he was.
Guess who's back in the city of light.

‘Now after the finale of part two, people are out to get him. So it’s like intensified.’
The narrative took a sad turn in the first episode of Lupin Part 2, as Assane faced the risk of losing his kid.
Writer George previously described how Omar was active behind the scenes in the representation of the tale, both of whom felt it was crucial to emphasise Assane’s position as a parent, as fathers themselves.
‘Even though he’s this incredible gentleman burglar who can do superhero-esque things, at the beginning of Part 2, Omar was really clear – and I agreed – that he would just be intensely focused on getting Raoul back,’ George recalled.

In the most current teaser, Assane reveals where Season 3 begins and what his purpose for the season is:
‘I avenged my father,’ he’s heard saying.
‘I had to protect my family. I wanted to stay in the dark, but had to come back into the light. Now, watch me disappear.’
The burglar remains one of France’s most sought criminals, and it appears that the public is divided over whether he is a hero for pulling down a corrupt police chief or a monster for the crimes he committed.
The first two seasons of Lupin are available to stream on Netflix, and part 3 drops of Thursday October 5.
