Married At First Sight UK star Marilyse Corrigan has shared she will be running the London Marathon this weekend almost one year after donating a kidney to save her ex-husband’s life.
The personal trainer, who shot to fame in the E4 reality series in 2021, will be taking on the 26-mile race on Sunday and is raising money for Kidney Research UK.
It comes after she bravely signed up for a donation scheme, which meant she could give her organ to a woman she had never met so that her ex, Shaun, who is the father of her two sons, could receive one in exchange.
Shaun has been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, an illness that causes cysts to grow, therefore reducing kidney function and leading to kidney failure.
In recent years Shaun had needed more and more dialysis, prompting Marilyse to see if she could help in any way.
In November 2021, Marilyse and Shaun travelled to Leeds General Infirmary for the special swap, which saw Marilyse’s ex receive a kidney shortly after she had one of hers removed.

After getting the all-clear from her surgeon and being told to ‘live life to the full’, the television personality decided it was time for her to take on the almighty London Marathon.
‘I actually had it my head before the transplant that I wanted to do the marathon, but didn’t know how my body would react, if I’d be strong enough,’ she told MailOnline.
‘I’d applied a few times before through the ballot, but never got a place, so it seemed a bit academic anyway.’
Luckily enough, Marilyse managed to get herself a spot this time around. ‘I contacted the organisers, explaining my situation, and was thrilled to be offered a place,’ she added.
‘I just wanted to celebrate what had happened, to raise money for Kidney Research UK, and shout about organ donation.’
On Sunday, Marilyse’s ex Shaun and their two sons will be waiting for her at the finish line.
