A man who appeared nude on This Morning described how his neighbours had called the cops on him.
Tim Higgs’ Clover Spa and Hotel was just named one of the top lodging options in the country.
He was then requested to appear on the ITV breakfast show to discuss the accolade and to explain more about their company’s unique offering.
According to the website, ‘Guests will experience the unique sensation of emancipation that naturism delivers, which is delightfully calming, exhilarating, and confidence improving.’
However, when Tim was on TV discussing his hotel with one of his frequent visitors Helen, who also stripped down, he disclosed that when the doors were originally opened to guests, neighbours were so astonished that they alerted police.
Tim recalls that when the hotel first opened 12 years ago, it took some time for customers to wrap their heads around what was on offer.
He explained: ‘Shedding your clothes sheds the labels and it’s really liberating.’
Tim disclosed the run-in with police authorities when asked by presenters Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes about the first reaction from neighbours.
‘They were shocked rather than alarmed. It was one visit [and they called the police], but it is not illegal and not immoral and we don’t want to offend anybody,’ he said.
Helen then added: ‘It is not juvenile and for us it is normal and completely reasonable to go about your business without clothes and maybe we are just lazy [and don’t want to wear them].
‘It’s not weird and we should normalise [accepting our] bodies.’
While the hotel has many repeat customers, Tim did add that many visitors have arrived over the years without comprehending what they’d booked.
‘Despite the website being very clear, it’s happened on quite a few occasions because people rush to book and don’t read it,’ he explained.
‘Interestingly the majority just get involved and do leave very happy and have tried a new experience.
‘It’s only occasionally someone won’t want to stay. Most people love it.’
Tim emphasised, after Andi inquired about his own potential vacation there, that while checking in, visitors were always welcomed by employees who were (and were) totally dressed while serving them.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
