Margot Robbie had some tricks up her sleeve to get her co-stars in the Barbie mood.
Greta Gerwig’s new live-action movie will star a 33-year-old actor as the main character. Ryan Gosling will play Ken and go on a crazy trip with Barbie in the real world.
Pink is, of course, a big part of the whole project, from the sets and clothes to what the actors wore during the press run. To celebrate the release of the movie, they even lit up famous London sites in pink.
So it shouldn’t be a surprise that there was a day on set when Margot told her fellow players to wear only pink.
It was, of course, a Wednesday, just like in Mean Girls.
But not everyone was excited (even though they had signed up for Barbie! ), so Margot took things into her own hands.

The Suicide Squad star explained everything when she went on The One Show with America Ferrera, who plays Gloria, a person.
‘Is it true that there was one day a week where everyone had to wear pink? Did you have to enforce that? Who didn’t do it?’, host Roman Kemp asked.
Margot replied: ‘Erm, you know, some people were reluctant at first.
‘So, “On Wednesdays we wear pink” was the game. And if you didn’t wear pink there was an optional fine that would be donated to charity.
‘And I’d say the grips were the most resistant.’
In movie lingo, “grips” are people who work on the tools that helps the camera work. They are the heroes who work behind the scenes.

The BBC camera then moved to the studio crew, who were all wearing their best pink clothes and accessories in honour of Margot and America’s visit.
‘I don’t see anyone being that resistant to pink in this studio, which I’m happy to see!’, Margot praised.
She told me how she got her coworkers in the pink spirit: “But since they weren’t feeling it, I painted their truck for them.”
‘I snuck off and covered the whole thing in pink streamers and glitter and everything.’
‘They got on board after that,’ she said with a cheeky grin.
In another part of the conversation, the Aussie movie star said that the director Greta made a full mix for the Barbies to help them get into character before filming.
‘Greta made a whole Barbie playlist so we played that all the time, which was an eclectic mix of songs, lot of disco… keeping the party alive!’
She was also full of praise for the set and how it helped her find her ‘inner Barbie.’

‘It’s kind of easy to find it when you’re on a set like this. We had everything built. Real, life-sized dream houses and Barbie Corvets, the sets were just insane.
‘You couldn’t walk onto the Barbie Land set and not be in the zone.’
Barbie lands in cinemas on July 21.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
