The seventh season of Married At First Sight UK has certainly not been short on drama and included everything from clashes over veganism to off-camera feuds.
But the latest scandal to rock the boat in the bold social experiment programme really ups the ante, seeing two couples part ways and a new pairing desperately trying to blossom.
Wednesday’s episode featured Gemma Rose exiting the E4 programme, ending her relationship with husband Matt Murray after he developed a connection with someone else’s wife.
The barber stole a kiss with Whitney Hughes, who had said ‘I do’ to Duka Cav, enraging salon owner Gemma, who furiously remarked: ‘We’re not meant to be wife swapping!’
Along with Gemma, Duka also made the difficult decision to quit MAFS UK, with both making a case for Whitney and Matt to stay on as a newly-formed couple as they begged the experts to let them give it a shot.
Gemma added: ‘If it’s as strong as it is, take it to the real world.’
While there are still several episodes of MAFS UK left to air, with the final installment due in mid-October, Whitney and Matt have set their Instagram followers’ tongues wagging with a couple of cryptic posts.

A picture shared by Whitney on Wednesday shows her propping her legs up on a person’s knee while riding in a car.
While her friend is not visible, their hand is in view and they’re sporting a chunky ring that looks like it could be Matt’s vibe.

Matt has also liked the snap which has been tagged with the Married At First Sight UK and E4 accounts.
The 32-year-old reality star has similarly liked another photo shared on Whitney’s Insta in which she’s holding a glass of orange drink while her companion’s arm and hand, which are covered in tattoos much like Matt’s, are in shot.
Several fans have pointed out the mystery person’s similarity to Matt, with one writing: ‘Is this Matt I see 👀🔥 ?’
Another penned: ‘As soon as I saw Matt I did think he would be more of your type. You and Duka are good people and deserve to find happiness.’
‘Ur amazing and I think you and matt would be amazing together. Xx,’ a watcher remarked.
Viewers will have to wait for a few weeks to find out the outcome of Matt and Whitney’s burgeoning romance.
