Martin Compston, Iain Glen, and Rochenda Sandall have all shared their reactions to the shocking deaths in The Rig, the compelling new supernatural drama.
The Rig depicts a group of oil workers stationed in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland who are suddenly overwhelmed by a mysterious fog with bionic qualities.
With all communications systems down and no hope of rescue, the crew gradually begins to unveil what they’re drilling into on the sea below, but not before it gets to them.
The first worker killed is Baz Roberts (Calvin Demba), who survives and fully heals after falling hundreds of feet from a crane but is tortured by visions.
Baz, who has gone rogue and fled from the main rig, continually warns them of impending peril as he gets increasingly obsessed with the sea.
In episode 2, Alwyn Evans (Mark Bonnar) furiously tries to pull Baz from the walkway above the increasingly severe waves, pleading with him to return on deck.

Baz, enraged, chokes Alwyn, causing him to puke up water and leave him for dead. The staff is taken aback when his cause of death is eventually revealed to be drowning.
Alwyn’s death follows that of Leck (Emun Elliott), who died in the shower after reacting poorly to the fog and having his tattoos rejected by his skin.
After reading the script, Line of Duty star Martin, 38, expressed concern that his character Fulmer will be next on the chopping block.

He joked: ‘I thought, when will it be me? It’s hanging over you. It’s one of those things that makes great drama – when you think, “Actually, any one of us could go.”
Iain, 61, starred as Ser Jorah Mormont in Game of Thrones and compared the deaths to his stint on George RR Martin’s fantasy drama.
He explained: ‘I was quite shocked by it and it did remind me a little bit of Game of Thrones and the outcry and shock of Sean’s [Bean] early demise. And I think writers have slightly picked up on that.

‘It’s very central to our story and there’s an awful sense as to why it took place. Dramatically, it’s incredibly effective because you’re following these people and, hopefully by that stage, you’re right behind them.
‘And then when they’re taken away from you as an audience it’s disconcerting. And that is what you’re trying to do to an audience – it’s the thriller element.’
Rochenda, meanwhile, said she was ‘super shocked’ when she learnt of the double blow, but described it as ‘justified.’
‘I think it adds to the story,’ the Small Axe star, 33, continued. ‘And I do think that actors are actually pleased to be part of that as well. I think Mark [Bonnar] was quite pleased to be part of it.’
The Rig is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
