Matt Hancock has been eliminated from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Here! jungle.
The former health secretary left the ITV show in third place, leaving Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner and Jill Scott battling it out for the crown.
Speaking to presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly following his exit, Hancock recognised that his stint in camp was ‘controversial’ given he is a serving MP.
‘I know that it was controversial me coming here, I know some people said people in your position shouldn’t put themselves in embarrassing situations,’ he said.
‘But we’re all human and we all put ourselves in it.’
Hancock faced a number of difficult questions, particularly from ITV newsreader Charlene White, over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and how he broke his own social distancing guidelines.

He admitted he was expecting to be grilled by his co-stars but appreciated having ‘grown-up conversations’.
‘Some were really enjoyable and a release because I could say exactly what I thought but some of them got very emotional,’ he told Ant and Dec.
‘I live with those reactions and I feel it bit what I was able to do – one of the things I’m really grateful for – is that we had grown-up conversations. There were discussions, but no aggro.’
It’s fair to say many viewers were feeling ‘relieved’ that Hancock didn’t win the series.
Celebrating the news, one screamed: ‘THANK YOU UK. THANK GOD MATT ISN’T IN FINAL TWO!’
‘I was worried for a bit thinking Matt was going to win thank god he’s out,’ admitted another. ‘Now I’m happy with either Jill or Owen winning they both deserve it.’
During his time on the show, Hancock completed 10 Bushtucker trials, five of which were the result of a public vote.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is available to stream on catch-up on ITV Hub.
