Molly Marsh has claimed that she expected Zachariah Noble to leave the Love Island villa with her after she was shockingly rejected on Friday night.
Bombshell Kady McDermott, who originally featured on the ITV2 show in 2016, was charged with picking one male to pair up with, taking him from another girl, in moments that some fans have already hailed some of the finest ever on the show.
Molly, 21, received a text alerting her that she was single after Kady, 27, declared that she had chosen 25-year-old Zach… and that she needed to gather her belongings since she was being returned home.
The islanders were stunned and silent around the campfire, except for gasps, as they took in the news, with Molly visibly upset and Kady apologised for not realising the magnitude of her decision.
‘I don’t have anything against her, she did what she had to do,’ Molly said after leaving. She followed her instincts, therefore there was nothing she could have done otherwise.’
Despite audience speculation that Molly’s departure was a bluff and that she will return to the Love Island villa, the content producer stated that her “heart plummeted” when she received the message on her phone.
‘I just didn’t want to see it but I understood it needed to happen and I trust in the timing of the universe and everything happening for a reason,’ she stated.
‘So I knew it was clearly my time to go and if something good will come from me and Zach then it still will. If he finds something with Kady then that’s that.’
Molly stated that she had no regrets and hopes that something will come of her and Zach’s professional connection, vowing that she would “absolutely wait for him.”
‘I want to see him when he comes out and I want to carry on where we left off, because I think there’s still unfinished conversations and more to get to know about each other,’ she said.
So did a part of Molly think that Zach would follow her in leaving the show?
‘Yeah, there was definitely a part of me that thought, “Come home with me.” I thought, “Let’s go and we can carry this on.” But it’s his journey as well and he probably needs to keep himself a little bit open and see if there is something there,’ she answered.
‘Me and Zach had said to each other we can’t be fully closed off yet and it will take time to get there. But it was heading to that, we were quite close to being that,’ she continued.
‘I wonder now if he maybe regrets saying he was still open. Maybe he was wishing he’d said, ‘I am closed off’ and it would have been different.
‘I would have loved him to have come back with me and come home. But I understand he needs to stay and see what’s right and hopefully we carry on at home when he does leave.’
While Molly has stated that she will be waiting for Zach, she was unable to tell him since she was’speechless’ at the time.
So, will Zach stick with Kady or find that his love belongs to Molly?
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
