Molly Marsh’s mother is alleged to have been forced to confirm that she had no part in her daughter’s surprise comeback to the ITV dating programme.
After previous competitor Kady McDermott, 27, arrived as a bombshell and took her partner Zachariah Noble, 25, the 21-year-old was sent off the show.
Despite her early departure, the rising celebrity returned to the resort as a Casa Amour cast member, surprise both fans and islanders.
Molly’s mother, Janet, has apparently been compelled to deny working for ITV or having any link with the famous fixture following her comeback.
Molly’s parent having previously worked as an actress on Coronation Street, it was widely publicised before to the islander’s debut on the show.
According to Planet Radio, the influencer’s mother condemned the comments and cleared the air with a social media post.
She is said to have penned online: ‘I just want to put you all straight on this ‘producer plant’ rubbish.
‘I do NOT work for ITV!! I never have! And don’t know where this ridiculous idea has come from. I’m a teacher and part time actress and mum! Unless there is someone with the same name at ITV, but it’s 100% not me. So please don’t believe this nonsense, it’s not fair on us or Molly [sic].’
Molly talked up about her connection with her mother before leaving for a summer in Spain.
She said: ‘We already have been very big and of the show. They know how the show works and what it entails.
‘So they are really excited for me and they know how much I love being in a relationship.’
Molly said she had ‘unfinished business’ with her previous lover Zach since returning to the villa, leaving viewers to worry whether she would forgive the basketballer star for straying once she left.
Last night’s episode saw the rising stars rekindle their romance and share a kiss, indicating that their growing love story was back on track.
Their reunion happened after a teaser that ended the programme by informing contestants that they would be forced to re-couple and select who they wanted to stay with as Casa Amour ended.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
