Netflix’s You will be ending with a fifth and final season next year.
Fans of the thriller will see main performer Penn Badgley reprise his role as twisted serial murderer Joe Goldberg in one more episode, which will appear on the streaming service in 2024.
Just weeks after the release of Season 4 Part 2, the show’s official Twitter page stated in a video uploaded on the social media site that the upcoming series will be the final.
‘Brace yourself for Joe Goldberg’s final chapter,’ the caption said. You will return in 2024 for your fifth and last season!’
Sera Gamble, You’s showrunner, has also announced her departure from the programme after four seasons.
In a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter, she said: ‘Making the show alongside our writers, producers, directors, cast, and crew has been an honour and ridiculously fun.
‘And I feel lucky to have worked with an artist as gifted and thoughtful as Penn Badgely.’
Her statement concluded: ‘I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch.
‘I’m excited to watch and support the You team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion.’
Joe took on the persona of a university lecturer named Jonathan Moore in the most recent season of You.
Our heroine was hounded by an unknown culprit, which was a refreshing change.
Joe ultimately met his stalker, Rhys Montrose (played by Ed Spelers), dubbed the Eat The Rich murderer, in episode five, titled The Fox and the Hound.
However, the episode finished with the shocking revelation that Rhys was a dark projection of Joe’s imagination.
Before the credits rolled, the insane killer and his newest love interest Kate Galvin fled London for a new life in New York City. (Charlotte Ritchie).
Will Joe be able to elude the authorities once more, or is his time running out?
You seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix.
