A new teaser, skilfully presented before of Doctor Who’s impending 60th anniversary extravaganza, has hinted at Donna Noble’s potentially terrible fate.
Later this year, the BBC series will make an epic return with returning showrunner Russell T Davies, with some famous names also taking part in the milestone event.
Former Time Lord David Tennant makes his debut as the Fourteenth Doctor after previously playing the Tenth Doctor, while Catherine Tate returns as companion Donna.
This weekend, eagle-eyed Whovians spotted a Doctor Who tease on BBC One, disguised as a network error with glitches and static appearing on the TV screen.
Several different shots were shown in rapid succession… However, the most intriguing moment occurred when viewers reversed the audio.
When they did, they could hear the Doctor say, ‘Cryptic, I hate that,’ and Donna say, ‘Why did this face come back?’

Fans of Doctor Who who have previously seen David, 52, and Catherine, 53, on the show will understand why Donna remarking about the Doctor’s face may mean disaster.
The Doctor wiped Donna’s memories in the season four finale when her human DNA momentarily mixed with the severed hand of the Tenth Doctor, resulting in her having Time Lord thinking powers.
To save Donna’s intellect from becoming too overburdened, which may lead to disastrous repercussions, the Doctor erased any memories of him from her mind.
However, given that both Donna and David’s Doctor are returning, it appears that keeping Donna from remembering him will become increasingly difficult.
In a previously published teaser video for Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary, the Time Lord remarked of Donna, ‘If she remembers me, she will die!’
So if Donna could be heard saying: ‘Why did this face come back?’, could her memory of the Doctor be starting to return? And what could that therefore mean for her fate?
Doctor Who returns later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
