Before entering the villa for the first time, one or two of the Love Island cast members have frequently had brushes with celebrity.
This time, it’s been revealed that new participant Lana Jenkins dated I’m A Celebrity… I need to get out of here! Owen Warner, 23, is a finalist.
The first group of singletons to enter the South African villa for the ITV series was unveiled on Monday, and Lana’s previous romance with the Hollyoaks actor was quickly revealed.
Lana, a make-up artist, had a brief romance with Owen in 2020 after his divorce from fellow Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davies.
The soon-to-be islander confirmed her courtship with Owen on social media at the time, with the pair posting a loved-up snapshot of themselves to Instagram in June 2020.
Lana reportedly fell in love with Owen after being introduced by mutual friends while working on CBBC’s So Awkward.
When ITV2 inquired about Lana’s claim to fame, she remained tight-lipped.
Instead, she revealed that she participated in an episode of the TV comedy Benidorm when she was six years old and lived in Spain, and that her employment as a beautician also brings her into contact with celebrities.
The Luton babe also admitted to ‘falling in love quickly’ and has even told people she loves them within a week.
‘I tend to know quite soon if I could fall in love with that person and then, as long as everything is going well, I’ll probably tell them I love them in about a week,’ she confessed.
But Lana did warn that the men in the villa had better watch their step. ‘If I see a guy trip over, that’s an instant turn off.’
Love Island’s winter series will resume on January 16 with a new crop of hopefuls yearning for love.
Maya Jama will make her hosting debut, taking over for former presenter Laura Whitmore.
Love Island kicks off January 16 at 9pm on ITV2.
