A newspaper employee was caught watching Shrek during a broadcast about a missing lady in Australia.
The employee was captured on camera watching the green ogre’s antics on their monitor at Channel Nine’s Melbourne headquarters.
The employee was watching the blockbuster film, which stars Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy, as reporter Gillian Lantouris presented a breaking news story on a local missing lady.
TikTok user Alex Goodman saw the blunder and shared the video to the social media platform, captioning it, ‘Old pal got a bit preoccupied. However, I hope the woman is located.
The video, which had over 300,000 views at the time of writing, produced humorous banter in the comments area, with one viewer adding, ‘Someone’s being fired.’
Another joked that the news easter eggs were ‘on fire,’ while a third posted the melting face emoji with the caption ‘WHAT.’
Perhaps the employee was working out in preparation for Shrek 5, which is officially on the way, according to DreamWorks Animation creative partner Chris Meledandri.
Chris stated that conversations with the original cast were going well, however no contracts had been signed.
‘We anticipate the cast coming back. Talks are starting now, and every indication that we’ve gotten is there’s tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return,’ Chris said in an interview with Variety.
Eddie, 62, recently talked about being ready to step back into Donkey’s hooves, saying he’d say yes ‘in two seconds’ if asked to star in a sequel or spin-off.
Shrek (Mike Myres) agrees to rescue Princess Fiona (Diaz) in exchange for recovering control of his swamp from Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) in the 2001 film Shrek.
Three sequels have since followed, with the most recent, Shrek Forever After, published more than a decade ago in 2010.
