Uzo Aduba has announced the birth of her first child.
The 42-year-old Orange Is the New Black actress hinted to her pregnancy in June, when she appeared at the 2023 Tony Awards while caressing her expanding tummy.
Soon later, she confirmed the news with a video on social media in which she held up a set of baby pyjamas before pronouncing ‘ta-da’.
Uzo has now shared a series of photos announcing the arrival of her baby, Adaiba Lee Nonyem.
‘My daughter. I’ve never been in love so quickly, so deeply in my entire life,’ she captioned the post, which included a photo of her cradling the newborn and another with her daughter on her chest.
‘I really don’t know what to say, guys. My heart is full. Thank you, God.
‘I have joy like a fountain. I have witnessed a miraculous thing, and I feel blessed to know you are ours.’
She added: ‘We love you so much, Adaiba Lee Nonyem – Daughter of the people, treasurer of the mother’s names who came before you.’
Uzo then raved about being a ‘mommy’ and said she was excited to ‘join the club’.
‘I hear the dues are high, but the membership is completely worth it 🙂 #grateful,’ she added.
Her message was inundated with well-wishes, with other renowned figures congratulating her.
