WWE has turned to Ozzy Osbourne for a fitting introduction to tonight’s Survivor Series War Games event.
On Saturday night, the Prince of Darkness kickstarted the huge event, which sees the titular match – often stylised as WarGames – make its main roster debut after years of delighted fans on NXT after its revival under Triple H.
The premium live event uses iconic Black Sabbath track War Pigs as its main theme, continuing a trend from the bout’s black and gold era and providing an atmospheric start to proceedings.
In the opening video, Ozzy can be seen sat on a throne belting out the track with footage featuring the likes of Roman Reigns, The Usos, Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch, Finn Balor and more to hype up the matches set for tonight.
At the end of the promo, the rock legend said: ‘Welcome to War Games!’
Fans loved the package, which was shared on social media ahead of time, with one excited viewer tweeting: ‘I have no words absolutely speechless only a couple hours to go.’
‘Now that’s an entrance worthy of the GODS & DEMONS!!! #AllHailOzzy,’ another fan wrote, while a third viewer said: ‘Badass! Who better than the God of Metal to kick off War Games.’
Fans were delighted to see Ozzy involved, particularly after he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021, as he humbly said at the time: ‘Thank you so much WWE Universe for this Award. I don’t deserve it, but thank you anyway.’
The show as a whole looks stacked on paper, with the men’s War Games match pitting The Bloodline against Sheamus’ squad, which features his Brawling Brutes teammates Ridge Holland and Butch, plus their allies Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens.
Over on the women’s side, Bianca Belair is heading into battle alongside Mia Yim, Asuka, Alexa Bliss and the returning Becky Lynch as they face Rhea Ripley, Nikki Cross and Damage CTRL members Bayley, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai.
Elsewhere on the show, Seth Rollins puts his United States Title on the line against Bobby Lashley and a revitalised Austin Theory, while SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is defending the gold against Shotzi.
WWE Survivor Series War Games airs on the WWE Network.
