When Paul Gascoigne learned that his good friend Danny Dyer was hosting the terrifying reality series Scared Of The Dark on Channel 4, he was a bit taken aback.
The celebrity candidates have to complete a variety of tasks over the course of six episodes, and those who fail will have to play heroic games to save their spot on the show.
Because only one celebrity will emerge into the light as the series winner at the end, each celebrity will be inspired to face their anxieties.
The 55-year-old former professional football player will be joined by people like Chris McCausland, Scarlett Moffatt from Gogglebox, and boxer Chris Eubank.
Presenter Danny, 45, mentioned the impending performance and said that his close pal Gazza was unaware of his role in it.
‘[Paul] thought I was going in there. And so, one of the reasons why he signed up is I said I’m doing it. He didn’t know I was the host,’ the EastEnders star said.
‘[Paul] said, ‘Yeah, but I’ve already paid the agent!’ I said, ‘Well, you’re fu**** then, ain’t you?!’
The show will follow the celebs as they adjust to living in the dark over the course of five consecutive nights.
The celebs need just yell, “I’m Scared of The Dark,” they are led into the light if they want to escape The Bunker (and who wouldn’t, let’s be honest).
On hosting the terrifying show, Danny said: ‘This is possibly one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever done in my career, and I have done a lot of mad things.
‘Throw in a bunch of celebs and make them do things with the lights off – it’s proper good telly.
‘You’re gonna laugh, you’re gonna laugh some more and I promise you’re gonna love it.’
Scared Of The Dark is coming soon to Channel 4 and All4.
