Bradley Walsh was put in a state of pure dread when taking on an utterly horrific task up in the mountains, swearing while facing the thought of swinging through mist into ‘oblivion’.
Since 2019, The Chase actor has starred in Breaking Dad with his son Barney Walsh, an ITV show in which the father and son travel the world and take on once-in-a-lifetime challenges.
The duo travel to Latin America in the latest series, which premieres tonight, with an investigation of Mexico City and Mexico’s stunning Yucatan Peninsula.
Bradley, 62, is challenged at one point to overcome a huge phobia of his – heights – with a footage capturing the moment the full weight of the task ahead of him brought him to a halt.
Bradley, 25, notes while sitting on a platform linked to the side of a mountain that he couldn’t see what was in front of his face due to the enormous amount of mist that surrounding him and Barney, 25.
He then discovers that he must swing from his platform to one on the opposite side of the mountain that he cannot see, a startling 82 feet distant.
Trying to offer his dad some reassurance, Barney says to him: ‘How about this – I’ll do the swing, and you can watch me do it and then you can decide “is that something I want to put myself through?”’
Bradley gives his kid an anxious high five, before telling him to just ‘get on with it’.
However, the presenter’s dread of heights isn’t the only horrifying thing he must consider… since the weather is also proving to be erratic.
It is explained that the pair must reach the other platform before a rainstorm strikes in order to reach their peak target.
Bradley appears to be hesitant, holding his face in his hands and swearing while his son swings across to the other platform with ease.
Recognizing that his father may require an extra push, Barney demonstrates his adventurous side by swinging back to convince Bradley to join him.
‘I’ve now got a headache, I can’t tell you. I’ve got a headache like I can’t believe,’ Bradley says, before he’s reunited with his son.
Barney tries to reassure his father by urging him to look down and see how far they’ve gone now that they’re ‘actually in the sky…’ However, urging someone who is afraid of heights to gaze down may not be the best course of action.
Remarking that it appears like they’re ‘swinging through the mist into oblivion’, Bradley takes a deep breath before admitting how he’s feeling.
‘I don’t know what to do Barney, I really don’t know what to do. I actually don’t want to do it,’ the former Doctor Who actor confesses.
So is he going to make it across?
Bradley and Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad airs tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
