
The ratings for Prince Harry’s sit-down interview took a hit after it was discovered that more people watched the most recent episode of Happy Valley than they did his interview. The ratings for Happy Valley were significantly higher.
Over four million people watched the conversation between the 38-year-old royal and the presenter of ITV News, Tom Bradby, on Sunday night. The conversation focused on the royal’s life inside the family.
On the other hand, overnight numbers from BARB show that the BBC drama starring Sarah Lancashire was watched by 5.25 million viewers, which is significantly higher than the 4.10 million viewers who saw Harry: The Interview.
When it was broadcast in the United Kingdom in March of 2021, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle‘s interview with Oprah Winfrey attracted a total of 12.4 million viewers. This particular interview only garnered 3.6 million viewers.
On Sunday, the BBC had a very successful night in terms of audience, as Call the Midwife, which aired immediately before Happy Valley, attracted 5.61 million viewers.
Throughout the course of the conversation, which lasted for a total of ninety minutes, host Tom Bradby was lauded by viewers for displaying “compassion” while yet holding the Duke of Sussex accountable.
During the course of the conversation, Prince Harry discussed his criticisms of his father, King Charles, as well as the decision he and his bride, Meghan Markle, have made to leave the United Kingdom.
In addition, he stated that members of his family had “gone to bed with the devil” in order to assist better their image in front of the press, and then he proceeded to attack Jeremy Clarkson for his scathing letter about Meghan.
