On the most recent season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, the first queen was fired.
The fifth season of the show premiered last week, with ten queens competing for the title of Next Drag Superstar.
However, Alexis Saint-Pete was the first to be ordered to sashay away following a violent lip-sync duel.
The queens were challenged with producing couture designs in this week’s edition of the famed Design Challenge, which pits the queens’ creative, sewing, and glueing talents against the clock.
It’s well-known for being one of the most difficult Drag Race tasks, and it’s changed the lives of many great queens over the years.
Vogue UK Editor-In-Chief Edward Enninful made an extra special cameo appearance in the workroom, joining Ru and bringing along his beloved dog, also named Ru, to offer professional fashion guidance.
Later in the show, Dr Who’s newest assistant, Heartstopper actress Yasmin Finney, joined chief judge RuPaul on the judging panel, along with Michelle Visage and Graham Norton, as they appraised the queens’ self-made couture offerings as they headed to the catwalk.
Ru, on the other hand, thought Alexis’ outfit was “a little wonky” and the hemline “a little bit questionable.”
Miss Naomi Carter’s unfinished look also landed her in the bottom two, with her and Alexis competing in an intense lip sync fight to Charli XCX’s Hot In It.
Mama Ru made her choice at the end of the lip sync, telling Alexis she had “made Poland proud,” but it was time to exit the competition.
After being eliminated, Alexis said that while she didn’t want to go home first, she ‘wanted to show so much more’.
‘But I’m walking away as a winner already in my heart. I’m so happy to be here in my new homeland and I hope to come back stronger than ever,’ she said.
In her parting mirror message to her fellow queens, she wrote: ‘Always believe in yourself, love you so much!’
Ahead of the show’s premiere, Alexis said she had been concerned she wouldn’t be able to walk after an injury.
‘Right before I went on Drag Race, four weeks before I went on Drag Race, I jumped off a two-metre stage in my heels, into the audience without even thinking about it, and I totally destroyed my ankle,’ she said.
‘It was swollen within five minutes and I honestly thought I wasn’t going to be doing it, because right before I walked into the workroom my ankle couldn’t fit in my heel.’
However, she said she recovered quickly and was ‘really lucky’.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK continues next Thursday at 9pm on BBC Three.
