Fans are going insane about the possibility of Ryan Reynolds appearing on the Great British Bake Off.
The Deadpool actor is already an honorary Brit after partnering with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney to purchase Wrexham AFC and help them progress through the football rankings.
However, after posing for a selfie with judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith outside the actual Bake Off tent, some are thinking he may be a “national treasure.”
Ryan, beaming for the camera, posted the photo on Twitter and Instagram, captioning it, ‘A complete and unconditional embrace of pure serotonin.’
While there was no handshake in the photo, Paul appeared extremely happy as he gestured to the actor with a large grin on his face.
‘Prue and I catching up with @vancityreynolds … 👏🏼#legend,’ Paul wrote as he shared the snap on his own Instagram account, while he replied to Ryan’s and teased: ”Great catching up …’

Fans are naturally asking if Ryan would be featured in the forthcoming Stand Up 2 Cancer celebrity series.
‘He’s only gone and done bake off hasn’t he, cemented national treasure status,’ wrote one fan, while another replied: ‘If this doesn’t mean Ryan Reynolds is on the next celebrity bake off I don’t want it.’
‘This is the crossover I never even knew I needed,’ tweeted a different person, and a fourth fan quipped: ‘The UK has just claimed Ryan Reynolds as our own now and I am not sad about it.’
Getting in there before we could, another quipped: ‘Did you make Welshcakes? And did someone make the pun about them rising in the oven like Wrexham through the leagues?’
Others are urging the actor to carry his newfound love for the UK all the way to Downing Street, and we’re not against it!
‘So football and bake off… I think prime minister next??? Please. For all British people everywhere,’ begged one admirer.
Someone thinks Ryan is even on his way to becoming a bona fide British legend in some great company, adding: ‘I feel like Ryan Reynolds is going for the adopted national treasure status that Kylie, Rob Delaney and Graham Norton have… and I don’t hate it.’
Ryan in the tent would be fantastic, and perhaps not as far-fetched as it appears, given that not only did the programme go above and above to get Friends great David Schwimmer for the most recent celeb special, but Ryan and his wife Blake Lively are huge fans.
‘We live in a world that’s pretty divisive right now and there’s a lot going on. And I like that show just because it’s a nice thing to watch at night,’ he told People back in 2019.
Great British Bake Off is returning to Channel 4 later this year. The celebrity special is expected spring 2024.
