Warning: spoilers ahead for Secret Invasion episode 4.
After the threat of Skrull extremists on Earth pushed Nick Fury (Samuel L. Johnson) to come back from space and face the danger head-on, Secret Invasion has been full of twists and turns from the start.
A cruel twist in episode 4 of the series has made fans angry and so sad they can’t believe it. Some have even asked Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, to explain the tragedy.
In the past, Fury teamed up with his old Skrull friend Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) to fight against rebel Supreme Leader Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir). Talos then asked his daughter G’iah (Emilia Clarke) to help him as a double spy, putting her life in danger.
In the most recent episode, Fury and Talos go after Gravik when they find out that he plans to attack the US President (Dermot Mulroney). This is after Fury found the Skrull who was pretending to be Rhodey (Don Cheadle).
After Gravik’s men attack the President and leave him asleep in an overturned car, Talos tries to break the window with his Skrull strength, but he gets shot in the shoulder.
Fury manages to get the President out of the car, and a soldier helps Talos get to his feet as he starts to change back into himself.
But Fury realises all of a sudden that something is wrong with the man… And he’s right, because the man turns out to be Gravik, who immediately stabs Talos in the heart.
It doesn’t look like Talos can get better from this injury, so Fury has to drive the President away in his car.
Even worse, the last time Talos talked to his daughter G’iah about the future he hoped for their people on Earth, they had a very cold chat that finished with G’iah walking away from her father because she didn’t agree with his ideas.
As expected, a lot of fans are angry that yet another popular figure might have died, and some of them want Kevin, who runs Marvel Studios, to explain what happened.
‘This better be a fake out or I have words for Kevin Feige,’ one person tweeted, while another wrote: ‘I swear to god if what happened to HIM it’s real- KEVIN FEIGE I AM IN YOUR WALLS.’
Someone else penned on Twitter: ‘Yo I’m so mad.. #SecretInvasion if that was real and he really died, I’m not gonna forgive you Kevin Feige. You guys just took away one of my favorite characters.’
Since Emilia’s character G’iah came back to life in this episode thanks to her new Super Skrull powers, there might be a way for Talos to come back.
We have to wait one more painful week to find out what happens next.
Secret Invasion is available to watch on Disney Plus, with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
