*WARNING: Spoilers for Sex/Life season two below*
Sarah Shahi has spoken up about working on season two of Sex/Life with real-life lover Adam Demos, saying that they couldn’t keep it together during one scene.
The couple met on the set of the racy Netflix thriller in 2020, grew close, and announced their romance later that year.
Although they grew intimate off-screen, Sarah, who portrays Billie Connolly, insists that they can put their romance “aside” to focus on their characters on set.
But, the 43-year-old admitted that they couldn’t stop laughing during filming the scene in which their characters finally marry in a beautiful ceremony.
‘It definitely creates a lot of giggles between the two of us having to film that wedding scene’ she recalled.
‘But he still is one of my favorite scene partners because everything becomes very easy with him – whether or not it’s a scene about loving one another or hating one another – all I have to do is kind of look at him and my work is done. I’m pretty lucky in that aspect.’
Billie dissolved her marriage to Cooper Connelly (Mike Vogel), but her boyfriend Brad Simon (Adam) had already moved on with Gigi (Wallis Day), forcing her to consider other possibilities.
She finally fell in love with chef Majid (Darius Homayoun), but they couldn’t make it work.
In an emotional climax, Billie returned to Brad and they married in the closing minutes, during which she disclosed she was pregnant with his kid.
When asked if she would return for the second season, Sarah stated that she wanted to play alongside Adam more than the script permitted.
‘We were pretty happy to come back and both of us love our characters so much,’ she added to People Magazine.
‘I would’ve wanted to be with him more, only because I think just because we’re in a relationship together and when you’re working, the hours are pretty grueling, and so you really don’t see each other as much if you’re not there at the same time.’
Adam previously commented about appearing alongside Sarah, describing their working connection as ‘effortless’.
‘It didn’t influence the way we acted, because the thing is, we met as actors. So, we’re very well-aware that’s our job, and that we have a job to do,’ he told the Hollywood Reporter. ‘What’s home is home, and once on set, you’d be professional and you do your job.
‘The lines don’t get blurred like that. We’re both there to do a job and make sure we do it well. If anything, I find it easy to act with her because there is chemistry there, of course. Sometimes it feels very effortless.
‘In some scenes, it can be easy to feel the heartbreak when I’m looking at her upset, because I know her as a person.
‘But at the end of the day, we met as actors. We care too much about repaying the favor to these people who trusted us with these characters. But it does feel a little easier because there’s that connection that we have already.’
Sex/Life season two is available to stream on Netflix now.
