After discussing Phillip Schofield‘s affair on Monday, Springwatch viewers believe Michaela Strachan took a sneaky dig at Holly Willoughby.
Holly made her first appearance on the ITV daytime show since Schofield stepped down and admitted to having a ‘unwise but not criminal’ romance with a young male showrunner.
Addressing the elephant in the room, she began the show with a public statement, saying: ‘Right, deep breath. Firstly, are you ok? I hope so. It feels very strange indeed sitting here without Phil.’
She continued: ‘I imagine that you might have been feeling a lot like I have – shaken, troubled, let down, worried for the wellbeing of people on all sides of what’s been going on and full of questions.
‘You me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt that they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved. That is a lot to process.’
Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden, among others, have chimed in on her speech, with some comparing it to Jennifer Aniston‘s The Morning Show.
Fans are now comparing it to Michaela’s statements on Monday’s episode of Springwatch.
‘Everyone was on the edge of their seats watching that, how is everyone feeling?’ remarked the former Countryfile host.
‘There is a lot to process isn’t there? Emotions are all over the place.’
Michaela was standing next to Chris Packham, commenting on a video of a fox snatching and devouring a blackbird young from its nest.
‘Did Michaela just do a Holly Willoughby with ‘How’s everyone feeling? It’s a lot to process’?’ one viewer commented.
Another penned: ‘Michela Strachan trolling Holly Willoughby on #springwatch was easily the highlight of today.’
Someone else said: ‘@BBCSpringwatch#michaela using the how you feeling, a lot to process analogy much better and much more relatable than #Holly#thismorning#foxgetsblackbird#fox#blackbird#circleoflife.’
Another asked: ‘Was @michaelastracha having a dig at Holly Willoughby with that “is everyone okay?” comment. I like to think she was #SpringWatch.’
According to reports, Holly, 42, will not raise Schofield’s infidelity again after her statement on Monday.
An insider shared: ‘This is the only time Holly will ever speak about Phil and what has happened.
‘She still feels incredibly angry and upset by his actions and is very much still trying to get her head around it.
‘It took a lot for Holly to compose herself and speak about what has gone on in the last few weeks. But people expecting her to sit and pour her heart out will be waiting for a long time,’ they added to The Sun.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1, and Springwatch is available on BBC iPlayer.
