Stacey Solomon has fuelled conjecture after implying that she may be taking over for Phillip Schofield on This Morning.
Phillip, who originally presented This Morning in 1998, stepped down amid reports that his relationship with co-host Holly Willoughby had soured.
The search for his replacement began almost immediately, with numerous stars from across television reportedly vying for the coveted presenting position.
Stacey, an I’m A Celeb winner and former X Factor competitor, rushed to Instagram on Sunday to share ‘exciting’ news with her 5.6 million followers via a story.
Stacey was seen writing ‘September 2023’ in a diary while promising followers ‘exciting’ news in the narrative shared to the social media website.
As reported by MailOnline, Stacey gave key details about the ‘dream’ meeting she had just been part of.
In the posts, she said: ‘Just had one of the most exciting meetings of my life. I can’t even tell you how excited I am to share this with you soon. My dream.’
In addition to being delighted about Stacey’s probable new role, many of her followers are hopeful that she would join husband Joe Swash on the sofa.
‘After all the This Morning madness, I think they should just ask Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon to be presenters! They would be perfect!’ one fan commented.
Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon would be brill together as hosts,’ another said.
Stacey has been a frequent host since 2011, working with Chris Moyles and Keith Lemon until joining Bake Off: The Professionals in 2022.
Following Phillip’s retirement after 25 years, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, who typically appear on Fridays, were brought in on Monday morning.
Rumours first stated that Holly Willoughby will be leaving her post on the mid-morning news and talk programme.
Phillip, on the other hand, issued a statement saying that ‘This Morning itself has become the topic’ before departing the show for good over the weekend.
Last week, Stacey’s beloved husband Joe revealed that Stacey ‘puked all up the walls’ on the couple’s very first date, which endeared him to her.
‘We got too drunk on red wine,’ he said. ‘Stacey is not a drinker. She puked all up the walls. [I realised] there’s not much she could do that would put me off her.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
