Stephen Graham might be one of the most recognisable actors on TV but one of his confused co-stars from The Walk In genuinely thought he was Craig from Big Brother.
Craig Phillips won Big Brother in 2000, its first ever winner, and while he’s a reality TV icon he has no place being on the set of the gripping ITV thriller.
Regardless, one the actors in The Walk In thought Craig was ‘doing really well for himself’ by landing the lead in a massive new show.
Stephen appeared on The Graham Norton which airs tonight and revealed his case of mistaken identity.
He told the host: ‘One of the supporting artists –thought I was someone else and said, “You are doing really well for yourself.”
‘I thought she was being really kind. But then she said, ‘I never thought it would happen to you after Big Brother’ – she thought I was Craig!”
The Walk-In is written by acclaimed screenwriter Jeff Pope and is based on a true story of how a Neo-Nazi plan to kill an MP was foiled by an inside man.
‘It’s very close to my heart – it’s a very poignant and powerful drama that’s really relevant to what is happening today,’ Stephen continued.
‘It is a wonderful piece and what I really like is being part of something that puts a mirror up to society.” Adding, “I was a bit nervous at first about people’s reaction to it, but the way it has been received is phenomenal.’
Also joining Stephen on The Graham Norton sofa tonight is Thelma and Louise hun Geena Davis, grime legend Stormzy and Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse.
The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One.
