Nothing makes Stranger Things fans happier than discovering strange clues.
Fortunately for them, the latest Netflix programme teaser appears to be chock-full of them, ahead of its season 5 finale.
The official account for the sci-fi series released a brief video of rubble at the Starcourt Mall, where both Robin (Maya Hawke) and Steve (Joe Keery) worked at Scoops Ahoy, on X (previously Twitter).
The sign for the nautical-themed ice cream shop lay on the floor among the wreckage, as did the white board on which Robin sardonically scrawled the number of times Steve demonstrated that he’sucked’.
‘Excuse our mess…,’ said the statement from the Stranger Things account, and fans quickly got to work deciphering any hidden implications.
Some noticed that the Scoops Ahoy sign was flashing lights in a way that seemed to be Morse code.
‘Does the light mean anything in Morse code?’ one person asked, while another questioned: ‘What if the lights flicking are Morse code #StrangerThings fandom wake up!’
One individual claimed to know what it meant in the dot-dash form of communication, as they wrote: ‘The Morse code spells out RUN.’
While this may be true… Other Stranger Things fans speculated that the teaser may not be about the fifth and final season at all.
‘Watch this be the announcement for the Walmart ice creams,’ one person predicted.
Given that the writers’ and actors’ strike in the United States is still in effect, this forecast might prove correct.
Scoops Ahoy-themed ice creams were slated to appear at the American shop only last month, so that may be what this teaser is all about.
While we’re still hoping for season five hints concealed in the rubble, the Stranger Things account seems to indicate it was all about the frozen treat.

In response to one fan who commented on the teaser by writing: ‘I would love a Scoops Ahoy ice cream rn,’ they wrote: ‘Boy do I have good news for you.’
After another person said: ‘You’re making me crave ice cream 😔,’ they also added: ‘My work here is done.’
We’d love a bucket of ice cream right now… But we’d much rather see a true Stranger Things season five teaser!
