Bobby Brazier has the full support of his family, but his father, Jeff Brazier, was less than thrilled this week.
The EastEnders star, 20, has captured the hearts of the public with his remarkable hip movements and natural rhythm alongside partner Dianne Buswell, 34, in the dance competition.
Bobby’s father, Jeff, has been observed in the Strictly crowd on multiple occasions, cheering him on and sometimes becoming tearful after witnessing his son perform on the dancefloor.
While Bobby is delighted to have his own cheerleader, he isn’t always a fan of Jeff’s cooking talents – at least not all of the time.
Speaking to Fleur East after Halloween weekend on Strictly: It Takes Two, the Freddie Slater actor remarked that Jeff is ‘nowhere near as charming and as lovely’ as Dianne’s father, who is supporting her back home in Australia.
‘He makes you a packed lunch every day! What’s on the menu?’, Fleur quizzed.
‘That’s right,’ Bobby replied. ‘To be honest, today, I didn’t really like it.’
Oh dear, Jeff.
‘Bar today, the standard was very high. Today was some kind of pumpkin-type pasta.’
‘See! He’s going with the theme of the month,’ argued Fleur and Dianne.
‘It might have been butternut squash,’ Bobby clarified.
‘Jeff, we need a review,’ host Fleur joked.
Dianne also discussed her father, who she just disclosed is ill, which explains why she appeared downcast on Strictly a few weeks ago, causing anxiety among fans.
‘My dad is just the absolute best and he supports me so, so much,’ she said with a smile.
‘He sends me a message every single Saturday. I wake up at 6am and the message is there, telling me good luck for my concert. He often tells me, “Craig might give you an eight which means the rest will give you higher!” He’s the best.’
‘Thank you, Mark,’ Bobby added sweetly.
Bobby just discovered that success has a cost in his connection with his family.
Bobby revealed on the red carpet at the Pride of Britain Awards 2023 that Jeff had raised his rent!
Bobby told OK! Magazine: ‘He’s been cooking us lunch recently, in big portions.
‘But on the other side of that, he’s just upped my rent, so it’s sweet and sour!’
Bobby and Dianne will perform an Argentine tango next weekend, with the model eager to show off her ‘passion’ in the heated performance.
Strictly fans were outraged by his remarks from the judges on Saturday night, with Craig Revel Horwood giving their cha cha a six and Motsi Mabuse giving him a nine.
Dianne agreed such drastic discrepancy in the results does get ‘confusing’, but they’re merely focused on providing ‘110%’ and putting on a ‘performance’.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One and iPlayer.
