CBeebies and Countryfile presenter Hamza Yassin stormed to the top of Strictly Come Dancing 2022’s first leader board after last week’s live show.
He joined Will Mellor in the first place spot, after dazzling with partner Jowita Przystal during their joyful foxtrot to Islands In The Stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, managing to secure a whopping 34 points.
After being announced as one of the celebrities in this year’s line-up, Hamza shared: ‘‘I am absolutely over the moon to be joining Strictly 2022. Never in a million years did I think I’d be on such a cool show.
‘I’ve been watching it for years and I can’t believe I’ll actually be there dancing live in front of the British public.’
The wildlife cameraman, who also stars on Animal Park and appeared on the CBeebies show Let’s Go for a Walk as Ranger Hamza, admitted that his dance skills are ‘currently at the level of “1970s disco vibe”.’
However, he added that he’s ‘ready to work hard and will be shaking it every time I get the chance’, adding: ‘Shake it ’til you make it!’
Where is Hamza Yassin from?

The 32-year-old wildlife cameraman was born in Sudan before he moved to the Scottish highlands to follow his dream of filming Scottish wildlife and becoming a wildlife cameraman.
He’s shown off his highland homeland in recent documentaries, taking part in the Channel 4 documentary Scotland: My Life in the Wild as well as Scotland, Escape to the Wilderness.
Hamza has a degree in Zoology with Conservation after studying at Bangor University and a Masters in Biological Photography and Imaging from the University of Nottingham.

Is Hamza Yassin married?
Hamza tends to keep his private life away from the camera, and not much is known about his relationships, although it appears he is not married.
His social media feeds are instead dominated by wildlife photography, capturing all the wonders of the natural kingdom, as well as updates on his TV work.
Hamza will continue in the ballroom tonight with the likes of pop star Fleur East, football icon Tony Adams MBE, Britain’s Got Talent’s Molly Rainford, comedian and author Ellie Taylor, Bros heartthrob Matt Goss, Kiss FM DJ Tyler West, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, comedian Jayde Adams, and Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6.30pm on BBC One.
