Angela Scanlon of Strictly Come Dancing has offered an unusual method for going into birth, and it involves marshmallows.
The Irish TV personality, 39, will join Eddie Kadi, Amanda Abbington, Layton Williams, Angela Rippon, and Krishnan Guru-Murthy in the ballroom later this year.
And, as she’s dusting off her dance shoes, she’s also assisting her sister in preparing for another important event.
Taking to Instagram, mum-of-two Angela penned: ‘The most gorgeous 24 hours with my sister ahead of her babe arriving.’
She then went on to list some of her ‘tips’, including marshmallows to avoid ‘heavy duty chewing while heavy duty mooing’.
Angela wrote: ‘Hospital bag being packed…. I’ve told her all my tips-a playlist longer than 152 minutes (!!), an eye mask, coconut water, marshmallows (no one needs to be heavy duty chewing while heavy duty mooing 😂) Any random favourites she should pack?!’

She sent a photo with her sister as well as an update on her recent activities, which included some flowery landscapes and Dolly Alderton’s impending book.
While some fans turned to the comments section to provide their own advice, others were more interested in the marshmallow line.
Her advice to women in labour was to bring soft, easy-to-digest food that can be consumed comfortably throughout labour, which typically requires some difficult positions, such as squatting and kneeling on all fours.
Women are often recommended to consume easy-to-digest snacks and meals that don’t need a lot of energy to chew during labour, and marshmallows certainly fit the bill!
Similarly, many additional people suggested carrying straws to help with drinking from difficult-to-swallow positions.
One wrote: ‘Am I having a baby? No. Did I save this in case one day I need to remember the marshmallow tip? Yes.’
‘Wish I had heard about the marshmallows before!’ another wrote, before including their own tips.
Angela reshared the photo on her Instagram stories, saying it reminded her of when she was about to have her second kid, and she posted some sweet pictures of her eldest daughter getting ready to be a big sister.
Angela and her husband Roy Horgan, who married in 2014 and keep their personal lives secret, have two kids, Ruby Ellen and Marnie.
Announcing her place on Strictly Come Dancing earlier this month, Angela said: ‘I’m excited. I’m not great at keeping a secret, it’s a bit of a relief. But it’s all very real now.’
She added: ‘I’ve told a few people. If you tell me a secret and it’s super guarded you can people confident I’m not going to blab it, but I’ve told 1700 of my closest friends.
‘I have no idea how my pelvic floor will react to that level of jumping.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
