Dianne Buswell of Strictly Come Dancing tweeted a snapshot of her father in hospital a few weeks after being tearful at his health condition.
Last month, the 34-year-old Australian professional dancer stated that her father, Mark, was ill.
Dianne, who is now competing on the dance series with EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, 20, said she wanted to discuss why she’d been obviously distraught on live in a Q&A video she shared on social media.
‘I thought I would be very upfront and honest with you all. Last week I got some news about my dad’s health and I won’t go into detail, but obviously that affected me,’ she said.
‘Being away from home and not being able to support and help your family in a time of need is quite a difficult thing so I did struggle a little bit last week in terms of that.’
Dianne has now uploaded a photo of him laying in a hospital bed, without going into any further information.
Mark was seen smiling at the camera while connected up to a machine in the photo.
Next to him were a slew of balloons, one of which featured a bright happy face design, evidently intended to cheer him up.
‘Love you so much dad. Sending all my healing wishes and energy your way,’ Dianne captioned her post.
She also tagged her dad, whilst also calling him her ‘hero’.
When sharing his health diagnosis with her followers, Dianne said there was ‘a little road ahead’ for him, but she believed he was ‘going to be fine’ and that the family were ‘going to get through it together’.
While Dianne’s family had planned to go to the UK for Christmas to see her on Strictly, she stated that she would instead be returning to Australia at the end of the year.
She then asked fans to give her dad ‘a little thought or prayer’, which she would ‘greatly appreciate’.
‘My dad is the sweetest, kindest man you will ever meet and the one thing he really wants is for me to keep going and to keep dancing my little heart out and doing what I love because that makes him the absolute proudest,’ she added.
The professional dancer began to cry and stated that she will continue to work hard on the show and perform a ‘amazing job every single week’.
She went on to say, “Whether I go home with a glitterball or not, I will still go home and have a hot Christmas.”
Dianne also announced this weekend that she was about to become an aunt again, as her brother Andrew is expecting his second child with wife Melissa Lejman.
The couple already have a daughter, Zofia.
An ecstatic Dianne wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her niece: ‘I can’t deal, you’re going to be the best big sis! And I’m gonna be an aunty to another beautiful niece or nephew. Congrats.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.05pm on BBC One.
