Many of us would certainly argue that we couldn’t get through the day without coffee, but Susanna Reid has taken it to a whole new level.
The Good Morning Britain host has spent years getting up at ungodly hours to host the ITV morning news show, which begins at 6 a.m. every weekday.
And with a 3.45 a.m. alarm to beat in order to make it to the studio on time, it’s no surprise Susanna requires caffeine to keep her going.
The sheer volume of it, though, would make even the most ardent coffee fan gasp, as she has now disclosed she consumes nine cups per morning.
‘You drink a lot of coffee when you get up that early,’ broadcaster Lorraine Kelly said. ‘How many cups of coffee would you consume?’
‘Well, I thought it was eight,’ Susanna acknowledged, a number that was already absurd.

‘But this morning, Harry was in the green room, and Mark, who was making my coffee, told me it was nine o’clock.
Lorraine completely lost it as she gasped and exclaimed, ‘NINE? NINE?’
Susanne, the GMB host, went on to add that she doesn’t drink a full mug, but rather ‘a few of sips,’ but the ‘amazing’ green room crew just ‘keep them coming.’
The newsreader stated that she can’never’ eat coffee after midday since it will prevent her from sleeping later that evening.
She went on to say that she has been getting up at 3.45 a.m. for ’20 years, on and off,’ so she has her sleeping routine down perfect.

Susanna has to be attentive while hosting the morning news show because live TV keeps you on your toes – as she found out just last week when a guest swore live on camera.
As the pair addressed the government’s contentious planned anti-strike rules, regular guest Kevin Maguire became irritated with another guest and political writer Andrew Piece, saying, ‘What you say about minimum standards is b*llocks.’
Susanna let out an audible gasp as he hastily explained that he was ‘quoting a European trade leader’.
“Sorry, we can’t get around Ofcom regulations just because you’re citing someone else, so an apology to anyone who was offended by that,’ she intervened.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV
