Susanna Reid, the anchor of Good Morning Britain, confessed on Wednesday that an unpleasant wardrobe incident had her ‘covering up’ seconds before coming on TV.
The presenter, 52, wore a striking red dress tied together with a silver brooch to join Ed Balls, but things didn’t go as planned.
‘It’s amazing what you can do, in terms of activity in an outfit, and still manage to emerge serene,’ Ed began.
He then pointed towards her brooch, to which Susanna laughed and said: ‘What are you referring to?’
She went on to explain: ‘Oh yeah, I had a bit of an outfit, wardrobe crisis this morning.
‘I put an outfit on that seemed to blend into the background, so the director with two minutes to spare said, “Is there anything else in your wardrobe?”
‘So, at two minutes to six, nipped into the wardrobe, found this, didn’t realise it needed a bit more buttoning up,’ she laughed.
Ed replied: ‘I’ve never ever read a news headline from the autocue while simultaneously trying to unzip you from the back!’
‘There was a team of eight,’ he joked, indicating how many it took to help Susanna sort out her crisis, while she clarified: ‘There wasn’t a team of eight! A team of one!’
‘It was a last minute cover-up job!’ she added.
This comes after Susanna revealed her intention to visit Ukraine one year after Russia’s invasion.
Susanna chatted to co-hosts Ed, 55, and Ranvir Singh, 45, from Ukraine on Monday’s GMB, sporting a yellow puffer jacket to stay warm as chilly winds blasted around her in Kyiv.
Revealing that it was her first trip in Ukraine, having previously visited to Poland, Susanna said: ‘I have come back and crossed from Poland this time into Ukraine. That took hours because it is a large nation. It takes roughly ten hours to get from Poland to Kyiv.’
On her tour, the presenter said that she went to one of the communities outside of the city that had been “most hit” by the horrific battle.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
