Susanna Reid has undergone a significant metamorphosis since her return to Good Morning Britain.
The ITV broadcaster, who has been a member of the show since 2014, was welcomed back to the studio on Monday morning to co-host with Ed Balls.
Minutes after the co-anchors announced the start of the week, Ed, 56, mentioned a significant adjustment Susanna, 52, had made immediately after her vacation was disrupted by the recent air traffic control failure.
‘Good to be back!’ Susanna told their audience, as her presenting partner then said: ‘I love your hair.’
‘Thank you very much indeed! Yes, I’ve had a few inches chopped off. I feel a little lighter. Not quite sure what I’m doing after being off all summer. Mildly got caught up in the air traffic control meltdown.’
Susanna went on to explain that she had to stay in France for an extra day… She didn’t mind the longer holiday, though.
‘Got stuck in France for an extra 24 hours. Can’t complain, to be honest,’ she added.
‘It’s just an extra night, an extra dinner. But I don’t know… has everybody got back yet? ‘Cause I know that some people had not been offered flights until today.’
Susanna urged GMB viewers to get in touch with them if they’re still stuck abroad due to the air traffic issues.
‘My sympathies,’ she stated. ‘As I say, we’re very, very lucky. Just got caught up for a couple of hours.’
She then shifted gears on the show, remarking on how ‘strange’ it was to be back with Ed at the start of September, given that he was formerly the education minister.
Several people on X (formerly Twitter) praised Susanna on her haircut, as one wrote: ‘Hope you enjoyed your summer holidays – looks good and suits you!’
‘That’s how I want my hair to look! Going to take that image to the hairdressers and ask for a Susanna!’ another remarked.
GMB was not nominated for a daytime award at this week’s National Television Awards, with nods instead going to The Chase, This Morning, Loose Women, and The Repair Shop.
Meanwhile, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, together with Alison Hammond, Bradley Walsh, Claudia Winkleman, and Martin Lewis, were honoured once again in the TV presenter category.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
