Warning: spoilers ahead for Ted Lasso season 2.
When Ted Lasso returns for season 3 on Apple TV Plus, it appears that the competition will heat up as Nathan ‘Nate’ Shelley (Nick Mohammed) truly embraces his fresh new managerial role.
Since the series started in 2020, it’s safe to say that it’s become a comfort watch for people all around the world, with Jason Sudeikis starring as the ever-heartwarming titular character.
However, as the streaming platform hints at the release date, a first look image for its (presumably) final excursion suggests that there may be some bad blood in the air when Ted and Nate come face to face as rivals.
Nate had had enough of feeling overlooked at AFC Richmond since joining the coaching staff in the final episode of the second season, so he switched alliances.
Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), the football team’s owner, was stunned to learn that her ex-husband Rupert Mannion (Anthony Head) had purchased West Ham United.
Not only that, but Rupert took advantage of Nate’s dissatisfaction with Richmond by naming him manager of the London club.
Richmond and West Ham appear to be battling head to head on the pitch in a new graphic published for the next season.
Nate and Ted exchange glances in the elevator, the former looking decidedly more severe, while the latter flashes one of his trademark friendly smiles.
Rupert stands in the background, looking ominous in an all-black ensemble, while the West Ham logo can be seen on the wall, insinuating they’re at West Ham’s London stadium.
‘Time to win the whole f**king thing,’ the caption from Apple TV Plus read to accompany the image.
Several fans on Twitter expressed their excitement over the tantalising tease, with many begging for a trailer to drop soon.
‘This is all we get guys. A tiny crumb. We will soon starve,’ one fan wrote, while another said: ‘Hell yeah!!’
While no specific release date has been announced, Apple TV Plus has confirmed that it will be available in the spring of this year.
That suggests the launch could take place between the end of March and the beginning of May… So fans can only hope for more details shortly.
The first two seasons of Ted Lasso are available to watch on Apple TV Plus.
