You probably didn’t expect to read this on a Friday morning: The Great Pottery Throwdown has made its way into the DC Universe.
The TV reality show, which debuted on the BBC in 2015 and has now relocated to Channel 4, puts amateur potters against one another to produce the greatest creations.
Earlier this year, the series’ most recent winner, Lois Gunn, was crowned in an emotional episode as chief judge Keith Brymer Jones held back tears.
And now, it looks that the Great Pottery Throwdown’s success has enabled it to join the DC Universe after initially debuting on US streaming networks in 2022.
In the most recent episode of the Harley Quinn animated series, the eponymous heroine (voiced by Kaley Cuoco) mentions the sculpting competition.
Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) is informed that Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) has not been transformed into a zombie and that he is still the same old Frank.
OMG my season of #Potterythrowdown gets a mention on Harley Quinn! Does that mean I’m part of the DC universe now 😂😎 @StreamOnMax pic.twitter.com/fK2qMp64Tm

Harley then blames Poison Ivy’s concerns on the fact that she doesn’t watch enough zombie films, preferring to watch ‘that pottery competition’ instead.
The scene occurred during the ninth and penultimate episode of Harley Quinn’s third season, which was released for streaming in 2022.
‘She’s still making her way through the fourth season of that pottery competition’, Harley jokes with her friends in the middle of the action.
Poison Ivy, on the other hand, responds by adding that Harley is also a great fan, implying that the two of them are about to see Jodie Neale win that year’s competition.
It was a stunning moment for Pottery Throwdown competitor Adam Johnson, who revealed a clip from the 2022 show on Twitter this week.
‘Oh my god, my season of Pottery Throwdown gets a mention on Harley Quinn! Does that mean I’m part of the DC universe now?’ he joked.
And he wasn’t the only one who was taken aback; fans of the programme also expressed their amazement that their fave show had made it into the DCU.
‘Famous the world over!’, one fan commented, while another claimed that Harley would be a huge fan of Henry Moore, who finished seventh that year.
