Melanie Lynskey, who plays Ellie in The Last of Us, has responded to a model’s criticism of her figure in the post-apocalyptic thriller.
Joel (Pedro Pascal) is charged with transporting a little child named Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across the United States in the smash-hit HBO series.
Ellie is resistant to the virus and so might be the secret to a cure, taking place 20 years after modern civilization has been devastated by a pandemic that decimated humans, infecting scores of people with a mutant fungus.
The team encounters several difficulties on their voyage, the most recent of which occurs in episode four, when they are confronted by Melanie’s character Kathleen and her allies.
However, when the 45-year-old Yellowjackets actress made her debut as the terrifying Kathleen, model Adrianne Curry, who won America’s Next Top Model in 2003, slammed her look in a now-deleted tweet.
‘Her body suggests life of luxury…not post-apocalyptic warlord,’ she wrote.

‘Where is Linda Hamilton when you need her?’ Adrianne added in reference to The Terminator star.
Melanie retorted that the image Adrianne had shared was from an Instyle Magazine cover shot, not a production still from The Last of Us.
She continued: ‘I’m playing a person who meticulously planned & executed an overthrow of FEDRA.

‘I am supposed to be SMART, ma’am. I don’t need to be muscly. That’s what henchmen are for.’
Adrianne later tweeted that she was ‘so over everything’ adding: ‘Actors can’t allow people to not like their characters? I am DONE.’
She continued: ‘We are not the things we pretend we are on a set or stage. its ok if someone doesnt like em. it isnt personal in the slightest.’ (sic)

‘She cut out what I stated about her flawless hourglass form being the most alluring to males,’ she said in a later tweet. It appears to be highly manipulating. ‘She is also NOT her character.’
It comes after Pedro dismissed trolls who criticised the ‘lack of diversity’ in the TV show, which was based on the game of the same name.
Pedro, 47, shrugged and told Yahoo Entertainment, ‘Sorry. What is it about characters not being cast precisely how they want them to be cast? You can’t please everyone.’
Paying homage to the original video game, The Mandalorian and Game of Thrones actor added: ‘I think that the game is very, very innovative in its inclusiveness.
‘So really, it’s a way of honouring the original source material, the way that [the TV series’ creators] Craig [Mazin] and Neil [Druckmann] have gone about casting and telling this story.’
The Last of Us is available to stream on Now in the UK and HBO Max in the US.
