Tomato Sauce has been unmasked as Steph McGovern on tonight’s The Masked Dancer.
They were the third celebrity to be revealed, after Frankie and David Seaman were unmasked as Pillar and Post earlier tonight.
The Packed Lunch host had been behind all the food hints, and had the judges and audiences pretty sure who it was.
Sea Slug, Candlestick and Pearly King all went through to the next round along with Onomatopoeia and Scissors, which had left Odd Socks and Tomato Sauce in the final two, but the judges ultimately unmasked Tomato Sauce as Steph.
Steph admitted that no one on her Packed Lunch team knew she was behind the mask, despite dashing between the sets to make it in time for The Masked Dancer.
In terms of revealing more about her hints, Steph revealed that she actually once interviewed the Prime Minister completely hungover, leaving her throwing up in No 10 Downing Street.
The presenter did Irish dancing as a young girl and is pretty good at it still to this day, having performed for her lunchtime show.
Live, Laugh, Legislate also pointed to the presenter – as she hosts a live show, laughs on it and another word for legislate is to ‘govern’, and there was a sign offering a ‘scoop’ on the stage during one of her performances.
Ahead of tonight’s performance, Steph (as Tomato Sauce) said: ‘To talk to some of the people like I have, it takes some bottle,’ hinting that the celeb was a presenter or host that interviews guests.
Last month, Steph also revealed she turned down the chance to feature on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Earlier tonight, Frankie and David – the first ever masked duo on the show – were unveiled as Pillar and Post because of an injury.
‘It was nerve-wracking,’ David admitted afterwards, despite the pair being ‘gutted’ to go due to Frankie’s leg injury.
From all the clues so far, fans had been guessing it was the Dancing on Ice duo, although, Rochelle and Marvin Humes, and Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden’s names had also been thrown into the mix.
Host Joel Dommett explained on tonight’s episode: ‘Sadly, Pillar took a tumble during rehearsals and I am absolutely gutted to tell you that on medical advice they have had to withdraw from the competition.’
In a statement, Frankie said of leaving the competition: ‘We were gutted as we absolutely loved every minute! It was great fun but a tumble meant our Masked journey came to an end too soon, we had such a blast and we were sad that we had to hang up our masks without being able to share our final dance with you all!
‘We have loved being part of this series and we wish the other competitors the best of luck as we continue to watch at home and try to guess who all the other celebrities are!’
The Masked Dancer continues next Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV.
