Before the second season of The Traitors has even begun, the show has already revealed plans for a third.
The game of bluff and deceit became a reality TV hit earlier this year, and fans were overjoyed to learn that host Claudia Winkleman will be back with a new batch of opponents.
With the second season quickly approaching, the BBC has commissioned a third series and has already begun accepting applications from those interested in being one of the 22 strangers.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, said: ‘The massive unscripted hit The Traitors will be back for a third series. Expect to see more psychological gameplay, exciting challenges and of course Claudia at the helm.
‘It will be a thrilling ride for both avid fans and newcomers to the series for sure. The BBC will always remain faithful to The Traitors.’
And Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, added: ‘We’re delighted a third series of The Traitors has been confirmed today ahead of the second series’ arrival on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

‘The Traitors has been so warmly received by viewers, critics and award juries alike. Claudia and the team look forward to keeping audiences on the edge of their seats again with ever more thrilling missions and exceptional players competing in this gripping game of bluff and skill.’
The immensely fascinating reality programme has 22 strangers joined together in a castle in the Scottish Highlands as they face daily challenges to build up the cash prize, but there is a huge twist – there are three Traitors among the Faithfuls.
Each night at the roundtable, the group decides who to kill, while the traitors choose who to send home at their own secret meetings with Claudia, with the Traitors winning if any of them remain at the end.
Meryl Williams and Faithfuls Aaron Evans and Hannah Byczkowski won the £101,050 grand prize in the inaugural series after expelling the ultimate Traitor Wilfred Webster.
The show is based on the Dutch series De Verraders and has inspired a US version, which recently debuted with Alan Cumming as presenter, while UK fans are anticipating a second season.
With a brief movie broadcast just before the celebs walked to the dance floor for the Halloween special last weekend, Strictly Come Dancing viewers were given to the largest teaser yet for the new series.
Claudia appears in an immense hooded cape in the promo, with two unknown characters standing behind her in the same attire that has become iconic with the show.
She glanced down the camera, placing a finger to her lips with a ‘shhhh’ as the words ‘The Traitors’ were read out. The words ‘Coming Soon’ appeared across the screen.
The Traitors is coming soon to BBC. If you would like to take part in the third series please apply via BBC Take Part.
