Claudia Winkleman is well-known for both her distinctive fringe and her television work.
After confessing she was ‘winded’ by the commotion and success of its 2022 debut, the singer is hosting series two of The Traitors as it returns to the BBC.
She was the ideal candidate for the job, suspiciously wandering around with a cloak and black eye makeup to go with her thick dark full fringe and bright personality.
But, contrary to popular belief, Claudia did not inherit her signature hairdo.
Claudia had a remarkable TV career, and BBC Archive has uncovered an old film of the actress from the start of her career, showcasing the 51-year-old on Good Morning in 1996.
The then-24-year-old was presented on the show as a ‘chat-up specialist’ – and she appeared completely unrecognisable to her admirers today.
The young Claudia had her long brown hair so light it was practically golden, with her hair brushed entirely to the side and no hint of the big fringe she’s become renowned for today.
She accessorised with sparkly lipstick, jewellery, and light eye makeup.
And, while she was stunning, we couldn’t help but admire her 21st-century emo style.
Claudia herself has previously spoken about her brilliant look and said she doesn’t’want to change what I do, I want to get decrepit looking the same.’
‘I don’t care about what I look like,’ Claudia began on Elizabeth Day’s podcast, saying she wants to look ‘orange, black eyes, tipex mouth.’
The singer previously stated that the BBC has received complaints about her fringe in the past, with a staff member telling her hairdresser that her fringe is ‘annoying, it’s down to your nose.
‘You want to be on telly but you’re invisible.’
All the better to be a Traitor.
